Why I Voted for Freedom, Peace, and Unity: An Attempt to Bridge the Divide

I’m actually done trying to change people’s minds. Maybe I will still do that with this post — who knows — but it’s actually not my goal here. I just want to try and bridge the gap, maybe even share some of the joy and unity that half of the country is feeling.

Alright, so first things first: while I still have your attention, if you pay attention to nothing else, just know this: you’ve already survived a Trump presidency. We’ve done it before. You lived through 2016–2020, just like we survived a Biden presidency. Sure, we barely skated by considering the state of the economy and being on the brink of war, but Americans are resilient. It will be okay, even if this is not the outcome you were expecting.

Yes, losing sucks. We’ve all been there. 2020 felt awful — it was literally terrible. It’s so hard when you lose, and the election feels so consequential, like it has for the last two cycles. But I just want to remind you, under Trump, our money did go further. Our border was more secure. We had peace across the globe because world leaders respected him. They were intimidated by him and American power — which is objectively a very good thing. And millions of Americans — your friends, your neighbors, your parents, people you don’t know — felt at ease because of this. They voted because they want that feeling back again.

And most importantly, I have to say this because I’ve seen it all over my social media, especially from my Lib friends: in Trump’s first term, your rights were not taken away. Yes, we’ll get into specifics and talk about Roe v. Wade and all of that, but we were very free. And I genuinely think we’ll get even freer in Trump’s second term.

Now, if you had a terrible time starting in 2016, I would very gently urge you to take a second and evaluate whether that was really because of Trump and the things he did to you — or if it was because of what people told you about him and wanted you to believe. In my experience — being someone on the right, but being friends with like 90% liberals — what the media painted about Trump has been vastly different from the reality. But I get it — you still have concerns. So, let’s talk about them.

I’ve seen my friends on the other side genuinely scared, genuinely concerned over their futures and their safety. And the main issue they keep citing? Human rights. Women’s rights. Gay rights. Minority rights — most specifically. So, let’s start with abortion, which was basically the issue of the 2024 election.

I have to laugh a little here (this might ruffle some feathers), but abortion wasn’t really a major issue in the 2024 election. Kamala was VP for four years, Biden was president for four years, and they did not overturn the Dobbs decision. It’s not possible to fix that at this point. It was all just to get people emotionally riled up. On the other side of the aisle, despite what Democrats have said, Trump has made it clear he will not sign a federal abortion law. That’s not what he wants. He got Roe v. Wade overturned because he believed it should be the power of the states. In fact, since Roe v. Wade was overturned, abortions have increased in this country. Access has increased in most states because of it.

Obviously, things in red states have changed, but you can still freely travel if you need that care. That’s something Trump believes in. Of course, this is much to the dismay of many pro-life voters. Full transparency, I’m pro-life — I don’t really like any of this. But you know what? I still voted for the man. Trump believes strongly in exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother, which is something you talk about all the time and are very concerned about.

But here’s the thing — he’s on record having concerns with six-week heartbeat bills. His wife even wrote a whole book where she talks about her pro-choice beliefs. Guys, they lied incessantly about this issue. Trump almost lost voters on the right because of his stance on abortion. Meanwhile, Kamala and Biden were relentless, tweeting that he would take away all your rights. But here’s the truth — he is not “so pro-life,” as they say.

The one thing I think we can all agree on is that Trump doesn’t bend a knee or compromise his beliefs. Take him or leave him, but that’s why we like him. He doesn’t play games like the rest of DC politicians. Now, the same women who are obviously concerned with abortion are also worried about pro-life laws in these red states impacting the care they can receive.

So let me be very clear — miscarriage care does not equal abortion. It does not equal reproductive care. If your doctors don’t understand the difference and refuse you care, that’s medical malpractice. That’s not Trump’s fault. Trump didn’t do that to you or those doctors — that’s malpractice. And sadly, medical malpractice is the third leading cause of death in the United States.

So, let’s take this up with the medical industry and Big Pharma — not blame it on Trump. Hopefully, RFK Jr. will shake things up. We need to get through that corruption because it is unacceptable. These laws don’t prevent you from getting the miscarriage or reproductive care you need.

Take Amber Thurman’s story in Georgia. Trump didn’t pass abortion bans — he didn’t make those laws. No matter what Kamala or the media said, Amber died tragically because of abortion complications and delayed care. The abortion pill put her into septic shock. She waited hours to go to the hospital, and for some God-forsaken reason, when she got there, the doctor said, “Let’s wait until tomorrow to do the D&C or a hysterectomy. Here’s some antibiotics. Just sit here in this bed. We’ll figure it out tomorrow.” And she died.

Another thing people don’t bring up is that this hospital is one of the poorest-reviewed in Georgia — two stars. No, those reviews aren’t just about Amber. I’ve read through tons of these reviews, and they’re all about individual experiences. That hospital is just that bad, and that’s a problem on its own.

Now, I don’t know how many of you know Kat Ponds from TikTok. She’s a creator who gained a following after sharing her and her husband’s infertility journey, the death of their firstborn daughter, Edie, and their IVF journey that gave them their second daughter, Matilda. Kat has needed real miscarriage and fertility care firsthand, and she’s had to get that care while living in a red state. She’s never gotten political and hasn’t shared much of these personal stories — but this is what she posted yesterday.

She talked about the stories people know and don’t know. The one you do know is her losing Edie. After she passed at 25 weeks gestation, she was immediately offered an induction or medical abortion. Her life wasn’t in danger, but her body wasn’t in labor and hadn’t recognized that the baby had passed yet. No doctor suggested that she be forced to carry the baby until her body decided to deliver or until her life was at risk. This was very clearly a stillbirth, some would say a miscarriage or abortion — but she doesn’t. It was properly and quickly handled, with no mention of the law in place. This was completely legal.

On the next slide, Kat shared a story she hadn’t shared before. When she was pregnant with Matilda and her water broke at 21 weeks, she was strongly pushed to have an immediate abortion. Her life wasn’t in danger, and neither was Matilda’s. Her heart was still beating. Again, this was in a red state. Doctors were saying, “Okay, things don’t look great. You should go ahead and have an abortion.” This was at the same accredited hospital in a red state, and that gestation was past when the abortion law permits legal abortion.

This nurse told her that the likelihood of her baby living was slim to none, and suggested she take care of it as soon as she wanted to prevent further hurt. I’ve seen her daughter, and she’s just so beautiful. Obviously, she didn’t take that option, even though the nurse thought she was crazy for choosing to stay pregnant. And now, Matilda is here — alive and well.

But the point I’m making is that the media has been sharing extremely rare cases, like Kat’s, often involving medical malpractice, to scare people into believing your options for handling a very wanted pregnancy with complications are limited and dangerous. It’s simply not the case.

Kat Ponds shared that she’s been receiving messages from OB-GYNs and labor and delivery nurses thanking her for speaking out — saying, “Thank you for saying what the media won’t tell women.” That’s why I’m sharing this with you, too — to show you that it’s not always as the media makes it seem. Find better doctors, hold them accountable, and don’t be afraid, because the care you need in these rare situations is legal. Trump does not want to stand in the way of that at all. In fact, he wants to help moms. That’s why he got RFK Jr. involved in his campaign. They will fight to hold doctors and Big Pharma accountable and to ensure that moms stop worrying about what their kids are eating with the rising rates of chronic illness and obesity in this country.

By the way, one of the very cool things Trump 2.0 has done is surround himself with people who disagree with him. RFK Jr. is incredibly pro-choice, and yet, even pro-life people are excited about him. They know that even though they disagree on abortion, RFK Jr. will do good things in the medical industry and help protect them. And while he might be pro-choice, other people working with Trump are not. There’s going to be a diversity of opinions and voices fighting for you and your family. That’s why so many voters from the left came over — they were excited about this.

Trump also wants to give tax credits to families and make IVF and fertility treatments covered by insurance or the government. He said this just a couple of months ago. This is not a man who is taking away your birth control, your ability to have children, or your ability to get an abortion if you want. In fact, on Truth Social a few months ago, he said, “I have never and will never advocate imposing restrictions on birth control or other contraceptives.” Yet that’s a lie that’s been parroted for years by the mainstream media. Point blank — full stop, this is a non-issue.

Now, moving on to another concern — LGBTQ issues. I was on my Instagram account, and I kept seeing infographics saying, “Here’s therapy for queer voices. We’re advocating for you in light of this election.” I was sitting there wondering, why are people so genuinely afraid? Just to remind you, Trump was actually the first president to come into office supporting gay marriage. Things move fast these days, but the Obamas, Bidens, and Clintons didn’t support same-sex marriage until 2010. Obama came into office saying he didn’t support same-sex marriage, even stating, “I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman.”

Yet, there are videos from Trump in the ’90s and early 2000s where he’s saying, “Yeah, dudes like dudes, free love, what do I care?” You never see that side of him. Trump also appointed the first gay cabinet member to the U.S. government and launched the first global initiative to decriminalize homosexuality worldwide. He doesn’t want to keep you from loving who you love or marrying who you want. And neither do the people around him. Just listen to Vivek: “My message to gay Americans is this: You’re free to love who you want, marry who you want, if you want, without the government standing in your way.”

But that doesn’t mean boys should be allowed to compete with girls in sports or that we should subject our kids to over-sexualization or genital mutilation or chemical castration. I think we should be able to draw those lines. I completely agree with this. Some of you might not agree, but these lines seem like common-sense boundaries. This takes us to what Trump wants to do on these issues.

Trump wants to protect women’s spaces. For those of you concerned with women’s rights, I hope you see how important and positive this is. Trump wants to protect Title IX — by the way, Biden and Harris tried to rewrite Title IX this year at the expense of women. Trump wants to keep biological men who have clear scientific advantages out of women’s sports so that women have the opportunity to thrive, compete, and win without fear of competing against a six-foot-three, broad-shouldered man who was born as a man and went through puberty as a man.

This is why we fought for Title IX in the first place — so women would have privacy, security, and our own spaces. That’s just common sense and shows empathy and kindness to women. And the big issue that I know a lot of people hate — Trump wants to stop the medical transitioning of minors. Maybe we’ll never agree on this, and it’s something I personally will never compromise on.

To us — and to him — it makes no sense and seems totally wrong that children, children with developing minds, can go to a doctor, get an approval note from an online therapist, and immediately be put on puberty-blocking drugs that are used to chemically castrate criminals and sex offenders. Do what you want as an adult. I don’t care. Call yourself whatever you want, dress however you want, marry whoever you want to marry. But we need to stop chemically castrating children. We need to stop chopping off their genitals and breasts before they are even fully developed under the guise of kindness and inclusivity. This is often done in ways that render them infertile and unable to experience sexual pleasure in adulthood. That’s insane. And we’re doing this to 10-year-old kids.

Kids who often grow out of these feelings — kids who are just going through weird hormonal changes and don’t know where they fit in. Kids who often detransition later in life but can’t undo the irreversible damage that was done to them by doctors. It must stop.

But beyond that, I really don’t think Trump cares about who you sleep with or who you marry. He genuinely has bigger issues to deal with — like unprecedented inflation, the recession, impending nuclear war, the situation with Israel, Palestine, Iran, gas prices — everything. He cares about those issues far more than he cares about involving himself in your bedroom. I mean, Americans can barely afford groceries anymore, which is another thing that RFK Jr. is going to be working on — getting us all good quality meat and healthy food.

Now, I know that’s not what many of you are thinking about right now. A lot of people are concerned about racism. We all lived through 2020, through BLM — that was huge. And of course, it’s an important issue. It makes sense that people are concerned, especially since the media has called Trump a racist for over nine years. But I want to tell you that minorities in America literally won this election for Donald Trump. Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians came out in droves for him, flipping minority-heavy counties that Republicans haven’t won since the 1800s. Why would they vote for a racist?

He doesn’t talk down to them. He doesn’t see them as victims who need saving. He genuinely wants to empower them. That’s what he’s been saying for this entire campaign, and it’s made a difference in their eyes. In his first term, he helped flood their communities with economic prosperity. He overturned Biden’s 1996 crime bill, which disproportionately impacted Black Americans. He funded HBCUs, including Howard University, where Kamala herself attended.

Yes, Trump might be brash sometimes — he’s made some off-color comments — but he’s not a racist. And honestly, who hasn’t made mistakes? There are videos of Biden, Bill, and Hillary saying things that are even worse, but people didn’t care.

He also doesn’t want to deport people because of their skin color. He wants to deport them because they’re criminals, because they came into this country illegally. Many of them are criminals — bringing drugs, inciting gang violence, and killing innocent Americans. And people are fed up. They look around their cities and counties and wonder, “Why are all these people here? Why are they getting government benefits when we can barely afford groceries?”

For the last four years, our government, under Kamala as the border czar, has basically been saying, “I care more about these illegal immigrants than I do about actual American citizens.” No wonder people are flipping. And I think we can all agree that people coming here illegally is a bad thing. We don’t hate immigrants. Trump has said over and over again that he loves immigrants — that this country was built by legal immigrants. But it needs to be done legally, with respect for human rights.

Speaking of human rights, I keep seeing people enraged about voting for a “woman-hating racist felon” with 34 felony counts. Let me address that. I hope I’ve dispelled some of the ideas that Trump is a woman-hater trying to take away your rights or that he’s some racist — considering his very positive track record.

Now, let’s talk about those 34 felony counts. Yes, they sound awful, but let’s dig into it. These charges are related to a hush-money trial. It’s important to note that these felony charges are literally just about how he paid people and the way those payments were notated. It’s the weaponization of the justice system — this is what we call “lawfare” — done in an attempt to discredit Trump and take him down because they see him as a threat to the corrupt government system, which, by the way, he absolutely is. And in my opinion, that’s a very, very good thing.

This is from NPR: the 34 felony counts in Trump’s hush money trial, invoices for legal services, guilty on 11 out of 11 charges, checks paid for legal services, ledger entries for legal expenses. We’re getting twisted up over how he paid people? And we’ve got bigger fish to fry.

Now, let’s break it down. This case often gets overshadowed by a woman named Stormy Daniels — she’s a porn star who, back in 2015 and again in 2018, accused Trump of having an affair, which led to him having her sign an NDA and pay her hush money. Guess what? All of that was legal. You can have people sign an NDA and compensate them for doing so. If you work in the corporate world, you probably know that when you leave a company, you may also sign an NDA and get a bonus in return. This is not illegal.

But things really spiraled when Stormy took the stand a few years later, accusing Trump of not just having an affair, but of raping her. And that’s absurd because, up until that point, she had said the alleged encounter was consensual. Why would she suddenly change the narrative? She herself said, “It’s not a Me Too case. I wasn’t assaulted, attacked, raped, or coerced. I wasn’t blackmailed. They tried to shove me into the Me Too box to further their own agenda.”

Let’s be clear — this is not a Me Too case. Trump has denied ever having relations with her, and I don’t know if he did or not. I don’t know if we’ll ever know. If he had an affair, I’d be sad, but that’s not going to sway people’s votes. People are voting for a president to lead the country, not a pastor.

And, if we’re going to scrutinize personal lives, maybe we should be consistent. Let’s talk about Bill and Hillary Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. Let’s care about Biden’s daughter writing in her journal about showering with her father. Let’s talk about Kamala’s affair with Willie Brown or her husband Doug getting their nanny pregnant. Those stories didn’t make you bat an eye, did they? So, let’s move on from these types of stories if we’re not going to be consistent with how we talk about all candidates.

Now, the justice system went after Trump for taking classified documents from the White House. They raided his home in Mar-a-Lago over this. The media made it out to be a huge scandal. But, it’s not just him. Every administration since Reagan has mishandled classified records, according to the National Archives. So, this wasn’t the scandal the media made it out to be.

The media lies — constantly. And they’ve been caught. But they won’t tell you that. They’ll quietly retract their stories a year later, bury it in a small note at the bottom of a page. They don’t share the truth. They are desperate to discredit Trump and will do anything to stop him. They’ve lied about his stance on abortion, about Project 2025. Yes, it was created by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative organization, but it wasn’t even endorsed or read by Trump.

The list of lies is endless. And it’s exhausting to constantly have to correct them. But that’s only made his support stronger. It may seem crazy, but to us, he’s a hero. He stands between us and a very corrupt government. He stands between us and a media that lies constantly. He stands between us and government elites who profit off of our struggles — whether through war or the economy.

Think about Nancy Pelosi and insider trading (allegedly, of course). Trump stands tall in his resilience, his hope, and his optimism for our future. He demonstrates a positive vision of success and ambition, both in and out of politics. His family — his huge, involved, and beautiful family — is relatable to us, even if we couldn’t dream of having their lifestyle or opportunities. But we still love and admire them for how tight-knit and intelligent they are.

His campaign has been fun, joyful, and patriotic. Thank God for that, because it’s something so many Americans have missed. Most importantly, it’s been truly unifying. So many people voted for Trump not just because of him, but because of RFK Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, Vivek Ramaswamy, Nicole Shanahan, and Elon Musk. These are former Democrats who are still progressive when it comes to their policies, but they are brilliant minds who want to work together with Trump to make America better. Together, despite differences, we can make this country healthier, freer, and safer.

While Kamala had celebrities on stage dancing and twerking while talking about joy and unity, Trump actually lived it.

I don’t know if Kamala voters even made it this far into this post, but I hope you did. Maybe you’re still grieving 2020 — that’s understandable. We were all grieving. Maybe you don’t feel the joy or excitement right now, but I genuinely hope you’ll join us at some point in the future. Maybe that will take seeing how things turn out. That’s okay. We don’t need to agree on everything. Many of us still disagree with Trump on things, but we want a better future — one built for the American people.

Trump promises that future, a future built on more than just fear, misleading political headlines, and celebrity endorsements. If you’ve made it this far, thank you. I truly believe my words sum up how millions of Americans, including your neighbors, friends, parents, and kids, felt going into this election — and why we feel so much hope, peace, and excitement right now.

This election isn’t about the left versus the right — it’s about “we the people” choosing our government. It’s a choice between freedom and tyranny.

No one has a chronic disease burden like we do in this country. A Kennedy endorsing a Republican? What’s going on here is deeper than politics. It’s deeply spiritual. We’re being called to rise above the hatred, fear, and evil. We need to remember — love is the answer. We must love our neighbors, treat others as we hope to be treated. Don’t you want healthy children? Don’t you want a president who is going to make America healthier, safer, and freer?

We voted for freedom, for peace, for our futures, for women’s rights, and for bodily autonomy. We voted for healthier, safer kids. And I hope you can see that this is not the evil the media has made it out to be.
